National Write Your Congressman Donates Educational Materials for Students to Orange Field of Valor
Dallas – Nov. 7, 2016 – National Write Your Congressman (NWYC), an organization that gives
small businesses a voice in American government, is donating 1,600 educational books about
American government and civic engagement to fifth through eighth grade students who will be
visiting the 2016 Orange Field of Valor. As the nation’s largest, privately held, nonpartisan
membership organization made up of small businesses, NWYC is dedicated to the delivery of
constituent information to representatives in Washington.
“We are excited to be able to provide high-quality educational materials from NWYC to students
visiting the 2016 Orange Field of Valor,” said Gary Remland, President of the Community
Foundation of Orange, president and owner of Remland Insurance and NWYC member. “Field
of Valor gives the community the opportunity to not only honor all veterans and active duty
military personnel for their service, but educate the next generation of voters.”
This year, the 2016 Orange Field of Valor is hosting local student groups to educate them on
the importance of active engagement with their government. The students will receive America’s
Legacy, a 36-page book produced by Student Governmental Affairs Program (SGAP), a
nonprofit organization established by NWYC that provides instructional materials to
approximately 200,000 students across the U.S. each year. Materials are factual, nonpartisan,
non-political and content appropriate for teenagers.
“NWYC is proud to partner with Gary Remland and the Orange Field of Valor to honor veterans
and those currently serving our country, as well as providing educational materials to our future
leaders,” said Randy Ford, president of NWYC and president and co-founder of SGAP. “The
future of our nation depends on our youth and NWYC is committed to providing educational
materials to teach students about all facets of government.”
The 2016 Orange Field of Valor is a patriotic tribute honoring all Veterans and Active Duty
Military personnel for their dedication and service to our nation. More than 1,700 flags will
proudly be displayed, each dedicated in honor of a friend or family member.
Students visiting the 2016 Orange Field of Valor will get to see a presentation on the history of
the American flag and the many forms it has taken since the founding of our country.
